McEwan State Forest

We went hiking in McEwan S/F to the creek at the back and found two Wedge-tailed Eagle nests (one very large) in the same tree overlooking the valley. There were lots of Welcome Swallows flying up and down the creek and four Ground Cuckoo-shrikes. New bird for my McEwan S/F list. Yesterday 22/9/2013...

Another Australian Brush-turkey

Morning all, When driving up our driveway to go to work this morning I disturbed a female Brush-turkey, only the second I have seen here in the last three years and both within the last month or so, which then flew across the car and into McEwan State Forest. There is a pair which up until this year have nested under the boulders on the slope near the house. On Sunday (1/9/2013) I walked around the corner of the shed and ...

Rufous Songlark

Saw my first Rufous Songlark for Spring 2013 today 3rd September between Pittsworth and Felton. The lone bird let me get to within 5 metres to take some nice snaps. The bird was trilling but not singing.
