Two additions from Wyreema
Russ Jenkins and I visited the Wyreema STP (restricted access) on Sunday 14th. Horsfield's Bronze-cuckoo and Brown Songlark (heard in adjacent paddock) were new for the year. Other interesting sightings included Pied Cormorant (2), Pelican (1), Australasian Shoveler(3), White-winged Triller (2), Hor...

Re: Noisy Pitta
Great find! Been years since we've had a pitta record from Redwood Park. In the 80's, they used to be more regular. The subsequent prolonged drought really knocked the stuffing out of Redwood but it's attracting more of the rainforest species again. Out of curiosity dug out the dates for my Redwood ...

Re: Other winter sightings, Pittsworth and district
Hey Alex, see you recorded White-plumed Honeyeater at Pampas. What's the closest place to Toowoomba you've seen one?

Crested Shrike-tit and others
Unfortunately, not much time for serious birding the past couple of months but here are a few more. Crested Shrike-tit was a new one for "Tiddalac" and a fitting finale to my time in residence there. (I have moved to Murphys Creek). Brown Cuckoo-Dove 21/08/14 Mill Rd, Upper Lockyer Mick At...

Re: Test posting
Thanks Ruth.
Could I ask any other newly registered members to do the same as Ruth please, as I'm wondering why people are registering but not posting anything? If there are problems please report them.
Cheers,
Mick

Southern Boobook, Russet-tailed Thrush
Southern Boobook seen 11/7 in Nigel St, North Toowoomba.
Footage of a Russet-tailed Thrush feeding in the leaf litter in Redwood Park 11/7 was posted on YouTube by Hugh Krenske. Good to see this species is still there.

Bush Stone-curlew
Toowoomba's only known bird (presume it's still the same one) was seen standing at the base of the third tree on the left as you head west along Bridge St over the McDougall St intersection, around 3:30pm on Friday 30th May. Have seen it there on 3 or 4 other occasions over the years.
