Redthroat Mimicry

Post by Michael Wood »

Having spent a fair amount of time with Redthroats on fauna surveys in Western Australia recently, I could'nt help but start up a list of other bird species it expertly mimics. Some of them are hilarious!

They include;
Crested Pigeon wing-whirring
Willie Wagtail
Magpie-lark
White-fronted Honeyeater
Galah
Spiny-cheeked Honeyeater
Red-capped Robin
Mulga Parrot
Australian Ringneck
Singing Honeyeater
Brown Songlark
Rufous Songlark
Red-backed Kingfisher
Grey-crowned Babbler

These are just a few. There are many that I have forgotten to document. All we need is for the bird to mimic a Night Parrot.
