Australian Bustard in Lockyer Valley

Post by Rod Hobson »

Folks,

I have just received an e-mail (with three photographs attached) covering details of an Australian Bustard that was recorded on the grounds of the University of Queensland (Gatton Campus) on 10/12/09. It was seen and photographed by Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service's employee Peter Theilemann and his wife Katrina on the day. According to Peter the bustard 'didn't hang around for long'.

This is my first personal record of the species for the Lockyer Valley although I'm aware of some historical records from the area.

A good record, indeed, and thanks to Peter (and Ian Gynther) for this very interesting information.

Regards,
Rod Hobson
