Black Honeyeaters at Rockmount

Post by Mick Atzeni »

Thanks to Rod Hobson who submitted these three interesting records from Rockmount area:

Black Honeyeater x 3 at Rockmount at GDA94 - S27.69377 deg. x E150.02620; +/- 500 metres on 10/03/14

Little Shrike-thrush x 1 at Rockmount at GDA94 - S27.41.34 x E152.01.14; +/- 200 metres on 08/03/14

Spectacled Monarch x 1 at Rockmount at GDA94 - S27.41.34 x E152.01.14; +/- 200 metres on 08/03/14

Putting these in context, Black Honeyeater is our first record for the Rockmount area. Having also been seen at Wyreema and Highfields this year, looks like we have had an influx of this unobtrusive species, so be aware they are around and please report all sightings to TBO Records Officer, Pat McConnell, at pat.mcconnell@usq.edu.au.

Little Shrike-thrush is also a first for Rockmount, and only about the 4th or 5th record locally. Still one I'm chasing for my local list!

Spectacled Monarch is a good record for there, as most club records are from Redwood Park. I can' t recall seeing them anywhere else myself.

Cheers
Mick
