Rose Robin, Grey Fantails, migratory honeyeaters

Post by Mick Atzeni »

First Rose Robin for the season today at "Tiddalac", Upper Lockyer - a female.

Very early. Last year, the first report wasn't until 5/5.

Grey Fantails have also returned and the number of Yellow-faced Honeyeaters and White-throated Honeyeaters has increased markedly in the last week. A good time of year!

Male Rose Robin, Restless Flycatcher

Post by Mick Atzeni »

First male Rose Robin today at Tiddalac.

Also first Restless Flycatcher for the property and my first for the year. Wonder how seasonal this species is?

2010 Returns

Post by Mick Atzeni »

A couple of autumn returns:

Yellow-faced Honeyeater 20/3/10 "Tiddalac" Upper Lockyer
Grey Fantail 21/3/10 Redwood Park.

No Rose Robins locally yet, but Steve Burke, Mike McGoldrick and I did see a male at the Bunya Mtns NP 27th February, which was extremely early for them, though I'm not sure what their status is there. Perhaps they hang around all year up there. Anyone know?

Rose Robin return to Upper Lockyer

Post by Mick Atzeni »

Rose Robin's are bit late back. At least three along Murphy's Creek, Upper Lockyer, today (15/4/10). First one last year was 28/3.

Cheers
