White-throated Needletails and woodswallows

Migrant arrival dates are always a hot topic, particularly, the spring/summer migrants.

Think you've seen the first for the season? Post details here and let's see if you're right ...

White-throated Needletails and woodswallows

Post by Mick Atzeni »

Saw 20-30 White-throated Needletails and small mixed flocks of White-browed and Masked Woodswallows along Thomas Rd, Upper Lockyer this morning hawking over spotted gum habitat.

The needletails are early; normally don't expect any until late October. The woodswallows are on time. Pat McConnell has been seeing them over Highfields too lately. Keep your eyes (and ears) out around the Toowoomba escarpment too.

Was hoping the woodswallows would drift over home - would be two new spp for Tiddalac". Alas, no sign of them today. Maybe tomorrow ...

Cheers
