Red-backed Kingfisher (Michael Wood)

Same rules apply as for the "250 in 2006" Challenge. Seems 250's no pushover locally, especially in a drought! Nevertheless, 250's achievable and will continue to remain our annual target. Report sightings ASAP for everyone's benefit.

And from now on we'll just refer to it as "The Challenge".

Red-backed Kingfisher (Michael Wood)

Post by Mick Atzeni »

Had a call from Michael on his way to Goomburra to say that he saw a Red-backed Kingfisher near Claude Luck Bridge, Hodgsonvale, around 1pm today.

Well done, Mick, and thanks for letting us know straight away.

Red-backed Kingfisher still there

Post by Michael Wood »

Around lunchtime today I drove past the same location of yesterday and the Red-backed Kingfisher was in almost exactly the same spot. Once past Hodgson Vale, cross Claude Luck Bridge and on both occasions the bird was within a couple of hundered meters of the bridge, perched on transmission lines on the western side of the road when travelling south from Toowoomba.
