Satin Flycatcher

Same rules apply as for the "250 in 2006" Challenge. Seems 250's no pushover locally, especially in a drought! Nevertheless, 250's achievable and will continue to remain our annual target. Report sightings ASAP for everyone's benefit.

And from now on we'll just refer to it as "The Challenge".

Satin Flycatcher

Post by Mick Atzeni »

A great start to the day, and just on a hunch! Excellent views of a pair of Satin Flycatchers on the edge of Boyce's Forest along Mackenzie St near the southern border. Observed for about 15mins around 9am.

Have often thought this private remnant rainforest might be a likely spot for a Satin Flycatcher this time of year. This is the first time I've bothered to pull over and look!

Long-term TBO member Margaret Krimmer just happened to be driving by at the time, so I was pleased to be able to show her her first Satin Flycatcher.

Like finding the White-eared Monarch in Redwood Park last October simply by looking for it later in the morning when it starts calling, nice when things come to plan!

Cheers
Mick
