Superb Fruit-Dove 07.11.07 (Rod Hobson)

Same rules apply as for the "250 in 2006" Challenge. Seems 250's no pushover locally, especially in a drought! Nevertheless, 250's achievable and will continue to remain our annual target. Report sightings ASAP for everyone's benefit.

And from now on we'll just refer to it as "The Challenge".

Superb Fruit-Dove 07.11.07 (Rod Hobson)

Post by Mick Atzeni »

I took the mutt for a walk dodging showers around the base of Picnic Point this afternoon. At 4.10pm, about half way along the Firebreak towards Table Top Drive I flushed a female Superb Fruit-Dove Ptilinopus superbus from a clump of Lantana on the trackside. I think that she may have been eating the berries of the Lantana when I came upon her. HANZAB records the species eating this fruit and the local Lantana is now heavy in berry.
This record I believe is only the third in the club survey area since the club's inception in 1975. Well done Rod!
