Baillon's Crake in Toowoomba CBD! (Rod Hobson, QPWS)

Same rules apply as for the "250 in 2006" Challenge. Seems 250's no pushover locally, especially in a drought! Nevertheless, 250's achievable and will continue to remain our annual target. Report sightings ASAP for everyone's benefit.

And from now on we'll just refer to it as "The Challenge".

Baillon's Crake in Toowoomba CBD! (Rod Hobson, QPWS)

Post by Mick Atzeni »

The following message received from Rod today:
On Tuesday last (20.11.07) Mick (no surname given) brought in a Baillon’s Crake found by an Aussie Disposals’ staff member outside their business premises, 239 Margaret Street, Toowoomba C.B.D. on that morning. The bird appeared dazed but otherwise uninjured. It was kept (and photographed) by QPWS employee Bruce Thomson overnight. Bruce said that the bird made an uneventful recovery and he liberated it along a creek line on the Highfields-Meringandan Road yesterday morning.

I shall forward some photos when Bruce processes them.
Obviously, trying it's best to become a spotted crake!

Cheers
