Scarlet-sided Pobblebonk Frog at Kleinton

It's not their fault they don't have feathers! Doesn't make them any less interesting. And just like the birds, it's good to know what species are about locally at any given time.

There's expertise within the club and beyond on most aspects of our local fauna. Let's tap into it.

Scarlet-sided Pobblebonk Frog at Kleinton

Post by Brendon & Judi Gray »

We have always thought that we "probably" had these delightful frogs here, and a few years ago while spotting for koalas, my father-in-law pointed out what he called a "pobblebonk frog" in the creek just behind our property.
Anyway, after all the recent rain, the creek is alive with frog sounds at night and Brendon decided to stay up late one night to catch one so he could identify it correctly, however they are rather fast moving and on the way back to the house he discovered one near the back of the house where the taps are. On inspecting it under lights at the house it was definately the scarlet-sided pobblebonk frog. Unfortunately it was late and I was rather sleepy and didn't think to take a photo, but will definately do so next time if we are lucky enough to catch one! All in all a very exciting find and confirmation.

Judi.
