Rangeville report

Post by Mick Atzeni »

A recent report from Meredith White of a pair of blackbirds on 16/9/08 perched in her neighbour's jacaranda at 16 Shiel St, which is just west of St Joseph's College, cnr James/Mackenzie Sts, Rangeville.

Meredith thought she may have seen a pair last year too, while she was driving along nearby Suffolk St, but wasn't sure. Very confident about her latest sighting though.

As the blackbird flies, this is only about 100m south to Lake Annand where Rod Hobson found a dead juvenile. A few years ago, there was an unconfirmed blackbird reported by former TBO member, Eric Dale, at Jolly Swagman Caravan Park, which is about 150m NW of Shiel St. I'm starting to suspect there's at least one Rangeville backyard harbouring a breeding pair. Trouble is, which one(s)???

And that is why containing blackbirds is very much a matter of community education and involvement. Our main job is the former.
