Blackbird at Highfields

Post by Pat McConnell »

A Common Blackbird has been around Highfields for several months now. When first seen it was in immature male plumage. It is now in full adult plumage. Up until early September it had been very quiet and I only managed to hear the occasional call. From about 13 September it has been very vocal. It calls at dawn for several hours, is quite vocal during the day, and then again on dusk it calls constantly for an hour or so. iT also comes in to drink and bath on regular occasions. If you have a male Common Blackbird around at the moment I would think that it would be very easy to detect.
