Weekend Species Census - October 25/26th

Post by Mick Atzeni »

Objectives:

1) Find as many species as possible in the overall survey area
2) Add to species lists for individual grids

As well as visiting favourite haunts, teams/individuals are encouraged to visit and try and fill in a few gaps this year in the southern (S1,S2,S3,S4) and western grids (W1,W2,W3,W4) and a northern grid (N4), in our local survey area.

I know some of these grids are pretty ordinary (mostly farmland) but still it would be good if you could commit to spending at least an hour in one or more of these grids at some stage. I see on Birding-Aus a pair of Crimson Chats have turned up in a Sydney park, so you never know, do you?

If you can obtain access to private property, then you are encouraged to tee up permission before the weekend. Perhaps do some scouting around and speak to property owners with a bit of habitat on their place.

Records from Friday 24th and Monday 27th will also count towards the census. Let me know if you intend to participate and what areas you intend covering.

If you would like maps and current species lists for these grids please contact matzeni@westnet.com.au and I'll email them to you.
