Eastern Bristlebird Recovery Project

Post by Mick Atzeni »

EASTERN BRISTLEBIRD NORTHERN WORKING GROUP SUPPORTING ‘THE CONDAMINE ALLIANCE’

Birds Queensland volunteers have a proud record of involvement with the Northern Working Group for recovery of the critically endangered Eastern Bristlebird, here in the northern range of the species.

Once again past and new volunteers are called upon from B. Q. We also welcome new volunteers from the BASQ & BOCA birding groups to volunteer their help.

Requirements are:

* A fair degree of fitness and walking ability, terrain can be tough with steep slopes, long thick grasses and fallen timber in the understorey.
* A reasonable knowledge of birds to avoid missing the presence of this elusive and very rare bird in dense grasses within suitable habitat.
* A reasonable knowledge of grasses and weeds in surveying habitat.
* Possession of and ability in using a GPS is useful.
* Must enjoy a good day out in lovely countryside and not tell the whole world if you find heaps of birds.

A Work Shop will be held to help you with all of this!
