Go for it - will be checking for the arrival of white-throated nightjars tomorrow night (have heard one but no sightings yet). We get them by watching farm dams at dusk any time from about now until the wet season spreads them out again..

Never a dull moment in this hobby!
Mind if I cross-post this to our forum?

As predicted, the dry in the west is bringing us some unusual species - in this instance banded honeyeaters. No sign of black, pied or painted yet though. I have an owl calling across the river from my place in the middle of the night - can't work out if it’s a juvenile barking or a perhaps a rufous. We also have a lone yellow oriole again this year - usually have to go another 100 km north to get them.
