Sacred Kingfisher

Post by Michael Wood »

Yesterday morning a very-light fronted Sacred Kingfisher was seen at West Creek Reserve, at the lake directly adjacent to the caravan park. (Thought I might have had a Red-backed for a moment there)

Overwintering Sacred Kingfisher

Post by Mick Atzeni »

Michael

Glad you tracked this one down - presumably the same bird I glimpsed Sunday 20 July but didn't definitely ID.

Very rarely, if ever, have we had an overwintering Sacred Kingfisher in town. More likely in the Lockyer Valley I believe. Perhaps Bill can shed some light on how frequently this happens around Helidon?

Cheers
