Visited a nice part of the world south of Beaudesert during the week with work and stayed at the "Cedar Glen" Farmstay overnight instead of a motel in Beaudesert. It proved a good choice! Good hospitality, plenty of birds, and the spectacular backdrop of Lamington National Park not that far away. I'm thinking this could be a nice place for a weekend club outing down the track.
Picked up several species along the Albert River which runs through the property including these winter additions:
Brown-Cuckoo Dove 1/8/2008
Crimson Rosella 31/8/2008
Varied Triller 1/8/2008

Lost World valley
By coincidence, Ron and I were birding in the same valley on Sat 2nd August. If you continue further along Kerry Road, south from Darlington there is a place called the Lost World at the end of the road. It is a narrow valley beneath the Lamington National Park western escarpment. The walk goes either alongside the river on on the western slope of the valley, which unfortunately is overgrown with lantana. The walk starts in eucalypt and changes to hoop pine and rainforest.
