Our first Eastern Koel for the season started to herald his early morning announcement regime at our Helidon home on 26th August. The summer storms are coming!!

Early Koel

I'm sure this would have to be one of the earliest arrivals on record! In fact, it's a winter record, and I don't recall any in the past. Well done

Interested to know if it hung around or was just in transit? It appears from the birding-aus records that they tend to overshoot SEQ and head further south, then backfill. Same for Channel-bills I gather.

Eastern Koel

Mick,
Yes, the Eastern Koel has stayed around since we first heard it at the end of August. Dan also heard sacred Kingfisher in late August. Dan saw a Channel-Bill over the house about a week ago and there was one here again yesterday afternoon.
