Glossy Black-Cockatoo (Peter Jesser)

This high profile conservation species is reported occasionally in the area. Given the interest in this species' conservation, including the Glossy Black Conservancy, it makes sense to store GBC sightings together for convenience.

Glossy Black-Cockatoo (Peter Jesser)

Post by Mick Atzeni »

Note from:

We saw three Glossy Black Cockatoos here yesterday (6/7/07). We regularly get the
yellow-tailed ones and I have seen Red-tailed Black Cockatoos elsewhere. The ones we saw yesterday were a smaller bird with red in the tail. But it was
the soft call that I identified them from. I have never heard it before. It
was nothing like the other species. They seemed to have a different style of
flight also.

I know they are uncommon. Thought it might be of interest.

Regards
Peter
