Species not reported as at 22/10

In 2006, we set up the inaugral Challenge to see if we could collectively record 250 species during the year in the club's survey area. How did we go? Extremely well considering the drought... Plenty of unusual and rare birds .... some great records from non-members too. It was a fascinating year. And a worthwhile exercise which we encourage other groups to follow. See for yourself...

Species not reported as at 22/10

Folks

The 221 species seen so far in this year's Challenge is a mighty effort considering we have not had the benefit of a decent waterbird habitat all year!

With just over 2 months to go the following are our Most Wanted species. Some of these have some very interesting history behind them and will be mentioned when we reflect over the past 30 years at our 30th anniversary AGM on 2 Nov at 7.30pm at the DPI&F conference centre, 203 Tor St, Toowoomba. If you've been following the Challenge with interest then you will enjoy the series of short presentations about the club and the local birdlife at the AGM. Everyone is welcome.

As an exercise, I have bolded those species I know have been seen within a few kms of the survey area this year e.g. at Cooby Dam to the north, Lake Apex to the east. If there are others I've missed, please let us know:
