Painted Honeyeater (Gloria Glass & Diana Beal)

In 2006, we set up the inaugral Challenge to see if we could collectively record 250 species during the year in the club's survey area. How did we go? Extremely well considering the drought... Plenty of unusual and rare birds .... some great records from non-members too. It was a fascinating year. And a worthwhile exercise which we encourage other groups to follow. See for yourself...

Painted Honeyeater (Gloria Glass & Diana Beal)

Post by Mick Atzeni »

Great excitement about this one because it is not only new for the Challenge - it's a new bird for the official club list!

The bird was seen by Gloria & Diana at their property in Magpie Lane, Gowrie Junction (27o29'27" S, 151o52'35" E) on 26/10/06, about 7:15 am, feeding in a Silky Oak.

Pat McConnell, our Records Officer has approved the Rare Bird Report submission and asked me to let you know the good news.

Congratulations Gloria and Diana.

Keep up the good work everybody.

It has been an amazing effort so far!
