Pallid Cuckoo for Challenge List?

In 2006, we set up the inaugral Challenge to see if we could collectively record 250 species during the year in the club's survey area. How did we go? Extremely well considering the drought... Plenty of unusual and rare birds .... some great records from non-members too. It was a fascinating year. And a worthwhile exercise which we encourage other groups to follow. See for yourself...

Pallid Cuckoo for Challenge List?

Post by Rod Hobson »

Folks,

Travelled down to Flagstone Creek yesterday afternoon to collect a Carpet Python from a private residence. On the corner of Sutcliffe's Road (east) and Flagstone Creek Road at GDA 94 - S27deg 34.942', E152deg 02.920' I had good views, through Zeiss 10x40B binoculars, of a Pallid Cuckoo perched on powerlines there. I watched the bird from my vehicle, which was parked just about under the bird, for about five minutes. When I alighted from the car the cuckoo flew off towards the open farmland to the north.

Regards,
Rod H.
