Folks,
Courtesy of Terry Reis two very good records from the Lockyer Valley today. The first is of a pair of Blue-billed Ducks at Lake Galletly, University of Queensland, Gatton campus. The second is of a male Painted Snipe on a farm dam between Atkinson's Dam and Seven Mile Dam. Good birds, Terry.

Blue-billed Duck
Bill Holmes and I saw the male today at Lake Galletly.
Excellent looks from the hide after Bill located it sitting out of the water along the edge bordering the road. It's in breeding plumage, so it's pretty hard to miss with that amazing blue bill.
A lifer for Bill who's down from Townsville this weekend. And it's only my second Queensland sighting. Previous was again of a breeding male at Hood's Dam, Helidon, way back on 1 April 1990 - no kidding! That particular record was also the first and only record in the club's local survey area.
Cheers
Mick
