Wompoo Fruit-Dove - QPIF Wilsonton

Thanks to replenishing rains in the Lockyer Valley, we're well placed for a record haul in 2009. No excuses why we can't give 250 spp a real shake. Over to you ...

Wompoo Fruit-Dove - QPIF Wilsonton

Post by Mick Atzeni »

A "lost" Wompoo Fruit-Dove spent most of a bleak morning huddled in a casuarina at work today (3/6/09). There was fog around earlier this morning which would explain this totally unexpected drop-in. Ravensbourne NP would be the nearest place you could expect to see one.

This is my first sighting of this species in the survey area too so I was stoked. There have only been a handful of sightings over the past 30 years.

Colleagues Joe Scanlan, Barb Learmonth, Liz Houston, Mitch Furness and John Gibson also got to see it before it disappeared.
