Blue-billed Ducks, White-backed Swallows etc. ......

Post by Rod Hobson »

Folks,

Terry Reis and I have just returned from a very pleasant and productive morning's birding in the Lockey Valley where we added six species to the TBO's "Autumn Beyond" list, as follows:

1 x Azure Kingfisher, 2 x White-backed Swallows at Belford Bridge, Gatton.

White-bellied Cuckoo-shrike, Fuscous Honeyeater and a small flock of Musk Lorikeets at Adair Road, Gatton.

3 x male, 1 x female Blue-billed Ducks at Lake Galletly, Gatton.

also, of interest this morning were 20 + Plum-headed Finches at Janke's Lagoon, Chestnut-breasted Mannikins and Australian Reed-Warblers at Lowes Road Dam, White-breasted Woodswallows at Adair Road and a Square-tailed Kite over Gatton township. A great morning's birding.

Regards,

Tree Martins & Swamp Harrier

Post by Mick Atzeni »

Checked out Lake Clarendon and Janke's lagoon on the way home from Brisbane today. Not much to report from Clarendon although there was a huge number of Welcome Swallows and Tree Martins on the barbed wire fence near entrance to the dam wall. Good seeing Tree Martins below eye level for a change. Only one Fairy Martin seen amongst them.

At Janke's lagoon, a lone adult Swamp Harrier was the only bird of note.

Pair of Black Swans still at Hood's dam, Helidon.
