Folks
On what turned out to be a very productive outing, Steve Burke, Jenny Matheson and I saw the following 10 species during the club's raptor survey in the Lockyer Valley today. John Hadley saw two Black Kites on the outskirts of Gatton near the Forest Hill turnoff the same day, so 11 raptor species so far, and still waiting to hear from Bill Jolly who usually manages to add a couple more from "Abberton".
*Square-tailed Kite - tremendous views of pair over Gatton CBD. Lifer for Steve.
Black-shouldered Kite
Whistling Kite
White-bellied Sea-Eagle - pair Lake Clarendon
Swamp Harrier - one adult eastern side of of Gatton
* Spotted Harrier - one near Lake Clarendon; being mobbed by pair of Brown Falcons
Wedge-tailed Eagle
Nankeen Kestrel
Australian Hobby - pair at Karrasch's lagoon, Placid Hills
Brown Falcon
* new for Winter Beyond
Cheers

Brown Goshawk
Bill advised he picked up a Brown Goshawk at "Abberton", so that's twelve species of raptor in the Lockyer Valley for the recent Raptor Survey. One of our best hauls, if not the best.
