Hooded Plover, Noosa

Post by gileas »

Wow, huge news! Clive Allen of Sunshine Coast Bird Observers found both a Hooded Plover and an Arctic Tern on Tuesday as part of a regular shorebird count on the Noosa River Estuary! As far as we can tell it's only the second record of Hooded Plover for QLD. The tern has not been re-found, however the plover has been seen on every day since the original sighting, including today by myself. Adding in an Australasian Gannet fishing in the estuary and I'm up to 316 species for the year, with the Hooded Plover being a massive bonus and quite unexpected.
