Post by gileas »

This is a list of targets for my SEQ Challenge for 2010. I'd appreciate any information on where to see these, I've marked common ones I have a site for with a '*'. If you see anything on this list I'd really appreciate a heads up.

Chris Sanderson

Hi Chris,
There are a few birds on your list that turn up semi regularly at Dalby, Qld. e.g. Banded Lapwing, White backed Swallow, Masked Woodswallow, Bustard, Brown Songlark etc.
Horsfield's Bushlark also turns up out there regularly but as it was not on your list, you may have already seen it.
My father is a birder and lives just out of Dalby, I will ask him to keep his eyes open for these and others and I will let you know if he sees them.
If there are any others that have not made your list that you may have discounted as a possibility, please let me know as you never know what turns up out that way.
I hope this will help you somewhat.
cheers

Other birds

Hi Glen,

Thanks for that, Id certainly appreciate to hear about any of the species you just listed. I have seen Bushlark already. As for other species, I've tried to include on the list everything I thought feasible, but I've been learning over the year so far that there are things that turn up that I would never have thought of. So if you know of any species typically more western in distribution, such as Australian Ringneck or Spotted Nightjar (to give two examples not on my list) I'd really appreciate it. They do have to be no further than 250km west of Brisbane though! Jandowae is fairly close to the edge of that.

If you have any questions about birds I've already seen feel free to ask.

Regards,
Chris

Painted Honeyeaters near your western limit?

Chris

Where's your western boundary? Steve Burke saw Painted HE's near Moonie last Thursday.

Western boundary

Thanks Mick,

My western boundary comes out around Inglewood, so Moonie is a bit far, but definitely worth knowing as they may be at Jandowae too!
