350 and beyond!

Post by gileas »

Hi all,

Just wanted to quickly write that a couple of weekends ago I finally reached my total of 350 birds for SEQ this year. The final two birds to reach the total were Southern Emu-wren and Fairy Gerygone, both at the Inskip Point/Cooloola NP area. I managed to follow this up recently with a quick trip to the Inglewood area where Nick Leseberg and I managed to find Spotted Bowerbirds about 10km south of town flying across the road, which was bird #351. I'll be pushing on to see how high I can get the total. I still need a few "easy gets" like Baillon's Crake and Red-kneed Dotterel that have been very difficult this year, but I have hope one or both may yet turn up. I also have a few harder things like Barn Owl, Marbled Frogmouth and Bush Hen that with some effort and luck I may well get. So at this stage who knows how high the total could get?

Regards,
Chris Sanderson
