A few extra for Winter

Post by gileas »

Assuming Highfields Falls is within the accepted area, I have a few extra for Winter Within:

Brush Cuckoo - heard calling on the 30th Aug at Highfields Falls (no Powerful Owls on this visit)
Australian Owlet-nightjar - heard calling in July at Highfields Falls during the day (same day I reported Powerful Owl on this forum)
Sacred Kingfisher - seen flying across the road at the carpark for the Highfields Falls walk. I assume this is a little early but not too early for them to be returning.

Winter sightings

Post by Mick Atzeni »

Thanks Chris. Yes, Highfields Falls is well within the local area. The northern boundary is further north between Cabarlah and Geham. (Use Reushle Rd, Cabarlah as the landmark).

BTW, Helidon Spa is also in the local area and your sighting of a Red-necked Avocet there was the first for the survey area this year, so a new one for the Annual Challenge. :D

Cheers
