Black Falcon & Square Tail

Post by Nicholas Matheson-Kozakis »

A good aspect of attending a rural school located in a natural setting beside a waterway is the wildlife we see from time to time.

Today at lunch the regular attendees of the feathered variety were putting on a tizzy fit and low, and behold a black falcon was flying quite quickly indeed and at a reasonable altitude across the campus from west to east.

Late ysterday afternoon on the southern side a square tailed kite was flying fairly low southward over the Condamine River before veering off along Rosenthal Creek.

Thanks

Another Square Tailed Kite

We saw a square tailed kite near the Gooding/Nerang-Broadbeach Road roundabout, actually just near the Neilson Road turnoff on June 25. It's not that often that we see these at the Gold Coast as whistling and brahminy kites are far more common here. :D
