Brown Goshawk & Square Tail Kite

Post by Nicholas Matheson-Kozakis »

Today I accompanied Mum as she took some Year 12 students to the UQ Open Day. The Open Day was a slight disappointment as the Zool Dept has closed down its museum. Feeding Guineafowl on the banks of one of the lakes made up for this let down.

However, on the trip down to Brisbane I saw a Square Tail over wetlands on the eastern side of the road near Willowbank. More excitingly, I saw a Brown Goshawk near one of my favourite waterholes just outside of Warrill View on the Brisbane side. As it was perched on a dead branch in a tree near the road, its yellow eyes and legs were clearly visible! This is a first for me!

Thanks, Nick :D
