Southport Pelagic
Hi Mick,
Thanks for your kind words. I've had a great time with my year list, and will in time write it all up properly for Bird-O. When I do I'll send a link.
One slight correction on the Southport Pelagic, and with all due respect to Gary, Paul Walbridge was unwilling to attach an ID to the large Skua we saw, and Rob Morris is certain (and I agree based on our limited view) that it was a South-polar, not a Brown. It would be highly unusual to have Brown Skua off Southport at this time of year, whereas they had South-polar on the October trip and in November in previous years also. I would have loved a better view, either species seen well enough would have been a lifer and a year bird!
Regards,
Chris
