My first lifer at Russell-Ridge, Stoneleigh this morning. I had been hearing an unfamiliar call for a few days now and finally this morning, while showing some friends around the camping area below the house I spotted my first Brush Cuckoo. It was a great feeling although my friends, not birders, could not understand why I would want to run through the bush, jumping logs and rocks, to get more views of my new bird.
Cheers
Brush Cuckoo
I can hear the Brush Cuckoo near the chook pen again this morning. tee-ooo, tee-ooo. Jeff and I are considering extending the garden to include this particular piece of pine, currajong, ironbark and vine scrub as a wild section with a bit of a walking track through it. The area is very popular with all the local birds and the Cuckoo-shrikes are nesting there at the moment.
