Zebra Finches in Toowoomba

Post by sburke »

Jeff and I were in Toowoomba this morning pricing some metal up at E-Steel on Carrington Rd and when we got out of the car I could see and hear finches not far from us in the grass. Turned out to be 18 x Zebra Finches. I walked up to within 8 metres of them before they flew onto the nearby boundary fence and were still there when we left about 10 minutes later.

I haven't seen a Zebbie since I was at Bowra last October so I was really chufffed with this sighting.

Cheers :D

I used to find them at the cemetery back in the 1980s but haven't seen them there for a long time.

Hi Russell. That would be a good place to have a look. Nice and quiet.
