Brown Goshawk and Peregrine Falcon, Toowoomba

Post by Robert Ashdown »

10/8/2011. Mary St, Toowoomba 5pm. Sitting with two pet cockatiels in cage (the birds, not me) in backyard, noticed them suddenly twisting heads and peering skywards intently. Peregrine Falcon soaring high overhead illuminated by last of afternoon sun. Spectacular.
7/8/2011. Queens Park, dog-off leash area, Toowoomba 5pm. Brown Goshawk soaring about then moving above camphor laurels right on dusk. Other dog-owners disinterested. No dog-owners seen consulting Pizzey and Knight or burrowing for their Leicas, unfortunately. Looking to start a cross-over park genre - the raptor-spotting dog-lovers group. Any takers (already know Hobbo will be up for it)?
