Some additional species from the eastern Darling Downs

Post by Rod Hobson »

Folks,

A few more to add to the "Winter Beyond - 2011" list:

Brown Falcon x 1 along the Bowenville-Norwin Road, Bowenville SEQ on 06th July.

At Mc Ewan State Forest, Stoneleigh SEQ yesterday: Painted Button-quail, Variegated Fairy-wren and Yellow Thornbill.

Other birds of interest from Mc Ewan's yesterday (but not new for this list) were a couple of Rose Robins and a covey of four Stubble Quail. During this visit there we also found the most westerly Queensland record presently known for the native grass Snow Grass (Poa sieberiana). This thanks to the eagle-eye of my botanist mate Ian Menkins; an excellent record. Good one, Ian.

Regards,
Rod Hobson
