A couple of productive detours

Post by Wes & Norma Sturdee »

Returning from a family funeral at Deception Bay on 5th August, we decided to make a couple of very brief detours to check out the local birdlife.
Our first stop at the entrance to Kirkleigh Road Caravan Park at Somerset Dam rewarded us with a close-up view of a pair of Bush Stone-Curlews. We've never observed these birds here previously although we've been visiting this site on and off for over 30 years.
Our second detour was to Villeneuve from the main highway where we observed a Peregrine Falcon perched in the highest tree in the middle of the lake.
