Fan-tailed Cuckoo

Post by sburke »

I heard a thump on the kitchen window at about 6.30 this morning (29/08/11) and when I went out to investigate I found a stunned female Fan-tailed Cuckoo lying there. After some tlc it recovered and flew away about 15 minutes later. It's very helpful to see a bird at really close quarters to cement their features in your mind.

Also there were lots of Bar-shouldered Doves around the house on the weekend and also on the way to work this morning along Stoneleigh Road.

Also seen at home on the weekend -

Double-barred Finches x 19 27/08/11
Black-shouldered Kite 27/08/11
Nankeen Kestrel 27/08/11
Speckled Warblers x 8 27/08/11
Lewin's Honeyeaters x 3 27/08/11
Yellow-faced Honeyeaters x 6 27/08/11
Superb Fairy-wrens 27/08/11
Stubble Quail x 4 27/08/11
Black-faced Cuckoo-shrikes 27/08/11
Wedge-tailed Eagle x 2 27/08/11
Tawny Frogmouth 27/08/11
Silvereyes 27/08/11

Cheers :)
