Southport pelagic 16/10/11

Post by Russ Lamb »

The Southport pelagic originally scheduled for Sat 15/10 was re-scheduled for Sun 16/10.We went out about 25 nm, not a great diversity of species but I managed a lifer (Black-bellied Storm-Petrel), we had great views of an adult and juvenile Humpback Whales for 30 mins only 2nm off the Seaway on our way home, and one lucky person saw a Sunfish.
Species that can be added to the Spring Beyond list are:
Tahiti Petrel
Providence Petrel
Flesh-footed Shearwater
Wedge-tailed Shearwater
Wilson's Storm-Petrel
Black-bellied Storm-Petrel
Common Sandpiper (sandbank within the Seaway)
