Toorbul/Bribie Is/Godwin Beach 29/9/11

Post by Russ Lamb »

Ken Cross and I shouted ourselves a days birding on a showery Thursday late in the school holidays. We visited Bishop's Lagoon, sites along the Toorbul Esplanade, bush sites back of Toorbul, Buckley's Hole, Kakadu Roost and finished at Godwin Beach. Our tally for the day was a very respectable 109 species (97 seen, 12 heard only). Best birds were Nankeen Night Heron, Buff-banded Rail, Spotless Crake, Latham's Snipe, Terek Sandpiper, Red Knot, Pacific Golden Plover, Mangove Honeyeater.

Additions to Spring Beyond list are:
Nankeen Night Heron Toorbul
Spotless Crake Buckley's Hole, Bribie Is
Red-capped Plover Toorbul
Black-tailed Godwit Toorbul
Common Greenshank Toorbul
Red Knot Toorbul
Caspian Tern Toorbul
Dollarbird Toorbul
Tree Martin Toorbul
