Eastern Barn Owl

Provided flooding rains don't spoil the party again, only slackness will prevent us nailing 230+ species this year.

Eastern Barn Owl

Post by Rod Hobson »

Folks,

A single Eastern Barn Owl reported by Carol Stephens from her property at "Lowanna" Rockmount for the 10th March 2012; a new species for "The Challenge - 2012". Carol also had a pair of Glossy Black Cockatoos over her place on this last weekend.

Eastern Barn Owl

Post by Mick Atzeni »

I drive home to Upper Lockyer in the dark quite regularly and though I expect to pick up something in the headlights from time to time I am invariably disappointed. Apart from the odd Tawny Frogmouth, nothing has presented, so it has been quite a thrill to see an Eastern Barn Owl twice in one week (19th and 23rd). Both times it was sitting on the Howmans Rd signpost, along the Murphys Creek Rd, Lockyer, around 9:15PM.

I've only had one barn owl sighting at "Tiddalac" since moving there in Jan 2009 so a very tough bird in the Murphys Creek district.

Cheers
Mick
