Western Gerygone

Provided flooding rains don't spoil the party again, only slackness will prevent us nailing 230+ species this year.

Another Western Gerygone

Post by Mick Atzeni »

it was great to see a Western Gerygone on Saturday (30/6) morning at Pat & Dave Cleary's property on Amos Rd, Withcott. Even managed a couple of bad photos including a flight shot showing the diagnostic white base in the tail, a difficult feature to pick up in the field.

I hadn't seen one locally for a number of years — probably not since they cleared the acacia scrub opposite the Helidon Dip (Airforce Rd) where I used to see them each winter (once we realised this species was an uncommon but annual winter visitor to our area).

Cheers
