Brahminy Kite

Provided flooding rains don't spoil the party again, only slackness will prevent us nailing 230+ species this year.

Brahminy Kite

Post by Bill Jolly »

Brahminy Kite over the creek at Abberton this-morning - Tuesday 13 November 2012.

Yet another of the hoped-for returns of some of the water-oriented species that were regular here in the 80s and early 90s.

I continue to check every passing hirundine for White-backed Swallow, which was an everyday bird here 20 years ago, but not seen from the verandah since September 2004. Last year's flood created many new creekside earthbanks, ideal for nesting, so I'm seriously hopeful.
