Nesting Tawny frogmouth

Post by Barb Learmonth »

Although not new for spring,we now have a beautiful tawny frogmouth patiently sitting on her nest in our pecan tree in our garden(Niddrie Dve, Middle Ridge). Although the tree has no leaves yet she was really hard to spot as she blends in perfectly with the branches and the nest is tucked into a fork. Can't wait to see the result!!

Tawny hatched

Post by Barb Learmonth »

We now have a cute little tawny sitting in the nest with mum/dad. Hatched about a week to ten days ago. Unfortunately I found another chick dead on the ground below the nest. After some research I realised boith parents were minding the nest and have found the non-roosting parent to be sitting close by in the tree as well.
