Three from Seven Mile Lagoon

Post by Mick Atzeni »

Returned home via Lockyer Waters and Lake Clarendon from Wivenhoe Pocket today (22/12) and picked up Yellow-billed Spoonbill, Red-necked Avocet & Brown Songlark there for Summer list. There was also a Swamp Harrier, which I thought unusual for this time of year; more a winter bird from my experience. (I mention it as we still haven't had a report in the Toowomba area this year and there's only 9 days to go! It's one we will be left scratching our heads about for the 2012 Challenge if we dip.)

Brown Songlark also at Jahnke's Lagoon near Gatton, as well as Pink-eared Duck, Sharp-tailed Sandpiper and 20+ Red-kneed Dotterel. A Sharpie also at Lake Clarendon. Whiskered Terns were in good numbers near Kentville. Also a couple at Lake Clarendon.

Several Magpie Geese on a dam along the Coominya-Glenore Grove Rd and a Koala in a roadside tree just as you hit the 100 km zone coming from Coominya.

Cheers
Mick
