Australian Ringneck (WA race)

Those species we want to keep hearing about, even if already reported for the year, or the season. They're either rare (e.g. Red Goshawk), localised (e.g. Yellow-throated Miner), cryptic (e.g. owls, button-quail and crakes), unpredictable (e.g. various waterbirds and raptors), or migrants/nomads of local/national interest (e.g. swifts).

Australian Ringneck (WA race)

Post by Mick Atzeni »

Since the day of the recent flood (27/1) I have had a "Twenty-eight" Parrot visiting my yard on and off, presumably an aviary escapee. Ironically, I'd just read an email about half an hour before seeing it, from former members Chris and Alison James who have moved to WA saying it was good seeing different birds over there and specifically mentioning the Aussie Ringnecks!

With two probable Sooty Terns over the property earlier that day, it was another harbinger of even more bizarre events to come over the next 48hours.

Cheers
Mick
