Black-chinned & Yellow-tufted HEs, Black Falcon and more

Post by Mick Atzeni »

Plenty of bush bird activity in the Fifteen Mile area north of Murphys Creek on Sunday 14/4 including two Black-chinned Honeyeaters (high up in the foliage; appeared to be an adult feeding a juvenile?), and a few Yellow-tufted Honeyeaters, near Horrocks Rd at creek crossing - a site where I've seen both species before.

Near the White Mtn Rd turnoff I added Variegated Fairy-wren, Buff-rumped and Striated Thornbill for Autumn. Also startled a dingo. Earlier, saw some Red-browed Finches near home along Mill Rd at Upper Lockyer.

On Saturday 13/4, saw a Black Falcon along the Cecil Plains Rd just east of Grose Rd, Biddeston. The Bush Stone-curlew reported earlier this month was still at the Boundary Rd site, Torrington. Rock Dove along the Gowrie Mtn School Rd, but no luck finding my target - Yellow-throated Miner - around nearby Zimms Corner for the Challenge. Keep your eye out for this one around that stretch of the Warrego.

Cheers
Mick
